The article discusses the significance of British artist Robert Peake during the 1586 plan known as the Babington Plot. According to the article, the plot was formulated by a group of Catholic men led by conspirator Anthony Babington in order to assassinate then-English Queen Elizabeth I and replace her with Mary, Queen of Scots. The article examines portraits painted by Peake on commission.
