This paper investigates the impact of entrepreneurship on economic development in China for the period 1999–2013 using a time-varying parameters stochastic volatility vector autoregressive model. Our results suggest a positive relation between entrepreneurship and subsequent growth of industrial output and employment. Furthermore, the positive effect of entrepreneurship shock peaks in a lag of 5 quarters on industrial output and in a lag of 10 quarters in employment.
