Abstract

Gain-switched laser pulse propagation was measured in semiconductor optical amplifier. The propagation was simulated using a multiple section rate equation model. The peak was found to increase with the increase in the saturation. The leading edge of the pulse experienced higher gain because the device was not saturated. Shorter wavelengths were amplified more strongly than the longer.
