Abstract
This article examines the duty to give reasons for administrative acts in Belgian law, a fundamental obligation in Belgian administrative democracy and contemporary administrative law. To do so, this paper analyses the two main aspects of the obligation, i.e. an obligation to state substantive and formal reasons as determined by a federal law of July 29th, 1991.
