Abstract
In this chapter I discuss Kierkegaard’s critique of preferential love: that is, his critique of our romances, friendships and familial loves in so far as these are tied to lovers' inclinations and drives. I argue against a standard, moralizing interpretation of this critique and develop an alternative.
