Abstract
This book looks at the ways in which negation works in Welsh. It shows that there are a number of ways of forming a negative sentence, and explains the conventions which native speakers follow when they use negative patterns. It also considers the implications of the Welsh facts for general theories of negation. '...a team of leading Welsh scholars' have by their combined efforts created a volume which is as wide-ranging as it is vibrant, and which represents an important and much appreciated addition to the existing corpus of scholarly research in the field of Welsh history...It is surely fair to say that what this volume achieves above everything else is to put Wales into context, both culturally and geographically. This collection of essays is an invaluable contribution to current scholarship.' New Welsh Review.
