Abstract
Interdisciplinary piece made with University of Essex Sociology and History Depts HLF funded To coincide with the anniversaries of some of the most significant events of the War, i.e. Somme Using primary unpublished research Combined with connecting to local museums, and archives – using the texts from letters sent home from the front Piece used a unique combination of documentary forms, as well as original scripted material, choreographic notation and libretto. Premiere of new script at Lakeside Theatre June 2016 2 performances to audiences c. 200 each night Extended audience via digital engagement with short films of the project Connecting cast of 16 young people to narratives around WW1 Conducted 6 interviews with participants after to discuss how their perceptions around the project had changed Excerpts from the piece were used in workshops for local schools – these were led by some of the original participants
