Abstract
The network architecture, resource allocation protocol design, simulation and experimental results of the RINGO (RING Optical network) project was presented. The RINGO network was based on a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical ring, with input queueing access protocol and multicast capabilities. The feasibility of the RINGO architecture was demonstrated by implementing and testing two nodes. A comprehensive simulative analysis was carried out using the optical system simulator in order to assess the node cascadability.
