Abstract
I am passionate about becoming a nurse, not any nurse, but the best nurse I can be. The journey can be fun, inspirational, tough and full of emotions, both positive and negative. It is important to develop positive coping strategies and resilience. Emotional intelligence, emotional labour, self-care and compassion are not just good ideas, but important characteristics to developing the art of nursing. These do not only apply to how you care for others and are not limited to the professional aspect of your life, but your personal life too. Self-care ought to be a priority, after all.
