Abstract
ComBio Energia – certified as a B Corporation – sells steam generation services to industries. To that end, it uses biomass residue as fuel, generating savings and reducing environmental impact. Its operation in Pará plans to expand the use of açaí kernels as a biomass source, with two potential suppliers: medium-sized industries or açaí ‘batedores’ – small tradespeople who incorrectly dispose of this waste. In deciding, ComBio must balance logistical, social, environmental, and economic challenges.
