Abstract
In this chapter, we broadly review the economic and environmental applications of Industry 4.0 in the textile and apparel industry. We begin by providing the background and key characteristics of the textile and apparel industry from both Indian and global perspectives. We review the basic concepts of Industry 4.0 and their implications for the textile and apparel industry. We then review the relevant background literature in this area and provide its taxonomical framework to organize the literature. A few applications of Industry 4.0 in the textile and apparel industry are then discussed. We conclude with relevant implications for researchers, managers, and practitioners.
