Abstract
This paper intends to open a dialogue between Jungian and Ferenczian ideas on the paranormal by putting the Jungian concept of synchronicity and the Ferenczian Poltergeist theory together. By comparing Jung’s and Ferenczi’s differing conceptualizations of psychophysical unity in the paranormal context, the author has identified their underlying metaphysical distinctions. At the same time, the tendency within post-Ferenczian and post-Bionian works to converge with Jung’s view on the theme of supernatural phenomena appears to signal the emergence of a new, integrative perspective within depth psychology. By highlighting this contemporary tendency, the author aims to facilitate dialogue between the Jungian and psychoanalytic schools.
