Abstract
The Court of Justice judgment of January 19, 2010 in K üc ü kdeveci (C-555/07) makes an important contribution to the case law concerning the legal effect of Directives as between private parties, the role of human rights in the EU legal order, and the substantive law relating to justifications for age discrimination. However, it will be necessary in future to clarify many of the key issues raised by the judgment. © 2010 thomson Reuters (Legal) Limited and Contributors.
