Abstract
The action of speaking, acting, or standing for a person, group, or thing. Also, the description or portrayal of someone or something in a particular way. In politics, representation arises when an actor speaks, acts, or stands for a group, so providing political presence for that group, to an audience. Democratic representation is a specific phenomenon of the general form, which arises when this activity occurs with the authorization of the represented, who can also demand accountability.
