Abstract
This article investigates an evolved elastic resource virtualization algorithm (E-ERVA) for Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) wireless communication systems. The objective of this algorithm is to maximize the total throughput with the constraints on individual virtual network’s (VN) data rate. This is achieved by assigning each VN a set of physical resource blocks (PRBs). We obtain the performance of the proposed algorithm in a frequency-selective fading environment. The simulation compares the throughput of elastic with static resource allocation algorithms. Furthermore, E-ERVA resource utilization and delivery ratio are evaluated. The simulation results show that E-ERVA performs better in throughput, and has higher spectral efficiency when compared to the static allocation algorithm.
