Abstract
Since the late 1980s an increasing number of migrant women originating primarily from economically developing countries started to operate in the Italian sex industry.2 Their presence brought about a profound epistemological disruption in the conventional formulation of knowledge about migrant women in Italy who were previously either ignored or identified as non-threatening and submissive.
