Abstract
The book (original working title: The journey in Reverse) is a piece of prose fiction with photographs. It is based upon a journey I took with my father to Berlin to retrace the route he took on the 'Kindertransport' in 1939. The journey allowed him to mourn whilst we visited the sites and places of his persecution. It also led to an understanding that escape and trauma can lead to profound changes in the person, most of which are damaging but some of which are beneficial. The book also examines the effects the event had on his children, particularly the author.
