Abstract
There remains a gap between Human Resource Management (HRM) practice and HRM pedagogy, and producing a ‘ready-made’ HR graduate is a significant challenge. We contend that a focus on developing praxis in students through the use of active blended learning and authentic assessment can go some way to addressing these challenges. This chapter will explore the meaning of praxis and its potential as a destination for Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) in HRM. This is demonstrated through an evaluation of a Masters-level Employee Relations module designed around Laurillard’s Conversational Framework and authentic assessment. The key practical and theoretical outcomes for embedding praxis development are identified, and reflections on the adaptability of this pedagogical approach for post-pandemic conditions are explored.
