Abstract
The is book is intended to provide a detailed analysis of systems that have been established to provide reparations to victims of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. It draws upon a Conference organised by the Clemens Nathan Research Centre (CNRC) and REDRESS, which took place at the Peace Palace in h e Hague, h e Netherlands on 1-2 March 2007. h e idea for the Conference arose out of discussions between CNRC and REDRESS on the considerable difculties for victims of the most serious international crimes to access effiective and enforceable remedies and reparation for the harm they su? ered. It was under-stood that the many initiatives of governments and regional and international institutions to afford reparations to victims of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes should take account of the wide and varied practice that had been built up in the past decades. © 2009 by Koninklijke Brill NV, Leiden, The Netherlands.
