Abstract
We demonstrate all-optical wavelength conversion from the O to the C band using a 1550-nm commercial vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) subject to external optical injection at 1300 nm. For the first time to our knowledge, we show that this configuration can also be used to develop all-optical inverters and cross-band NAND and NOR gates based on VCSEL devices, and investigate their potential speed of operation. © 2012 IEEE
